History
Our History
Established in response to persistent challenges
Center for Health Social Services (CHSS) was established in Nigeria in response to the persistent health, social, educational, and economic challenges affecting vulnerable populations, especially young people, women, and children. The organization emerged from a recognition that many communities continue to experience inequalities in access to healthcare, education, social protection, skills development, and other essential services despite the presence of government and development interventions.
Bridging the gaps
From its establishment, CHSS has focused on bridging these gaps by promoting community participation, capacity strengthening, public health interventions, youth development, and locally driven solutions. The organization has progressively built a multidisciplinary team of professionals and developed partnerships with government agencies, civil society organizations, development institutions, and community stakeholders.
Expanding across Nigeria
Over the years, CHSS has expanded its interventions across FCT, Nasarawa, Niger, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and other parts of Nigeria, implementing and supporting programs in areas including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, education, early childhood development, technical and vocational skills development, WASH, gender-based violence, child protection, and community health systems strengthening.
A significant milestone
A significant milestone in the organization’s development has been its involvement in the IDEAS-TVET/Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program, implemented with support from the Federal Ministry of Education and the World Bank, through which CHSS has contributed to skills development and improved capacity for early childhood care and education.

Today
Today, CHSS continues to strengthen its institutional and technical capacity while expanding its partnerships and programs.
The organization remains committed to its founding purpose of serving communities, strengthening local systems, creating opportunities for young people, and contributing to healthier, safer, and more resilient communities across Nigeria and Africa.
